Another UPDATE? – Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.3. Many of you may be mired with trying to decide how and when to upgrade your E-Business Suite environment from 11i. Or maybe you are trying to figure out the best way to leverage all those new R12 features. To add complexity to your decisions and planning, on December 13, 2013 Oracle announced Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 is available for download. Not to mention a fairly significant, version 12.2.2, was released just prior to that on September 20, 2013.

Here are the details. ORACLE E-BUSINESS SUITE 12.2.3 RELEASE UPDATE PACK. Although a lot of what follows below includes a lot of technical and version numbering verbiage (directly from Oracle Development). However, if you click on some of the links mentioned, in particular this one: Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Documents (Note 1302189.1), it includes a wealth of information within the Release Content Documents (RCDs).

Customers on earlier EBS 11i releases (such as 11.5.7) need to be at the 11.5.10.2 level plus the minimum baseline patch requirements for Extended Support before they can upgrade to EBS 12.2.

Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.0 to 12.2. Yes, there is a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.0.4 and 12.0.6 to EBS 12.2. EBS 12.0.4 or 12.0.6 customers do not have to install an intermediary EBS 12 release (such as 12.1.3) before upgrading to EBS 12.2.

Customers on earlier EBS 12.0 releases (such as 12.0.3) will need to be at the 12.0.4 or 12.0.6 level before they can upgrade to EBS 12.2. Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.1 to 12.2. Yes, there is a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.1.1, 12.1.2, and 12.1.3 to EBS 12.2.

In conclusion, I can’t end this post without a final comment on upgrades and patches. The hype around R12 has been around since 2007, and this hype has evolved from just that, to concern, then on to ‘uh oh’ have we waited too long?

Many new entrants into the ERP market try to dazzle us with their ‘friendlier front-ends and cloud capabilities. However, with the latest round of EBS releases, along with the capabilities we have today and investment in EBS, Oracle is listening more than ever to assuage our requirements to build a better business tool.

So as you embark on your upgrade journey or wait until ‘uh oh’, your ever changing business requirements and issues will continue to be considered with every new iteration of the Oracle E-Business Suite product release. Related Posts.
